what is healthy for us? anything??
In debating what to write this bright, crisp Friday morning, I fell upon several ideas. The first, how cold it was at the lake this morning, running around trying to coax my iPod to stay warm until I finished my 3 miles, alas, it quit with 200 yards to go! Ugh! No record of today’s run, once again. (I have the Nike-iPod sensor to record, but it doesn’t autosave!)
As I was finishing my run, I looked at the pure, clean, glassy appearance of the water, with the reflection of the trees it looked so picturesque. I headed to get my iPhone to take some quick pics, but the geese and ducks and crows distracted me. I pondered, quickly as by this time in the 28 degrees I was cooling down rapidly, why do they stay separate for the most part? The crows were on one side of the little bridge, down about 30 feet from where the ducks hang out, and the geese were over by the dock, as usual, taking quite a bit of space for themselves. Do the crows wonder why they can’t swim? Do they care? Do they eat all of the corn that the good samaritans leave for the geese and ducks? So I took some pics of them all, thinking that would be my post.
In camping out, trying to warm back up, in front of the giant screen of the iMac, I started reading emails, responding, doing work, writing posts—it all gets mixed together in one big, complicated kettle, like chili or bean soup—and found a particular site that interested me, I read through the whole thing. Food is an interesting subject to me lately, I gave up meat 1 1/2 years or so ago, and often wonder if I am still healthy, or if I am malnourished with the lack of protein I may have created. So, on to the interesting food thing, we all eat it, we all need it, and we all wonder what we will feel like after eating it in say 30 or 50 years from now. It seems there are ways to protect ourselves from the nasty C word, like move to a deserted cave and eat yogurt while hiking 30 miles a day, all alone mind you. Or we can “watch what we eat” and “get regular exercise.” Or, we can just do what we do, and die when we die. What is the sense of worrying about it anyway, something out there will kill us, might as well be as healthy as we can, and move forward onto other things that will fulfill us in the meantime!
So, follow the link if you are still interested in what they are saying about the latest “healthy, or not” foods…
